Development of Non-Contact Detection of a Charged Conductor and Visualization System  [PDF]

Abstract: At a substation, the condition of an applied voltage is checked using a bulky contact-type electroscope. Although it is important to secure a safe working environment, it is a burden to workers. In addition, in an emergency investigation or at the time of an accident, an operator may erroneously recognize a power interruption and cause an electric shock. Therefore, it is desirable to develop technology that can easily distinguish the charged condition from a distance. In this research, the focus was on the slight vibration of the conductor owing to the Coulomb force generated when a high voltage?was?applied. A system for visualizing the charging state by detecting the vibration with radar and combining it with a stereo camera was developed. Its performance was then confirmed at an experimental site and substation. In addition, the effectiveness of a method that used?independent component analysis to identify the harmonics of the power supply frequency and vibration resulting from the applied voltage was demonstrated.
Predicting Optimal Trading Actions Using a Genetic Algorithm and Ensemble Method  [PDF]
Kazuma Kuroda
Intelligent Information Management (IIM) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/iim.2017.96012
Abstract: Machine learning has been applied to the foreign exchange market for algorithmic trading. However, the selection of trading algorithms is a difficult problem. In this work, an approach that combines trading agents is designed. In the proposed approach, an artificial neural network is used to predict the optimum actions of each agent for USD/JPY currency pairs. The agents are trained using a genetic algorithm and are then combined using an ensemble method. We compare the performance of the combined agent to the average performance of many agents. Simulation results show that the total return is better when the combined agent is used.
Measurements of vector magnetic anomalies on board the icebreaker Shirase and the magnetization of the ship

Annals of Geophysics , 1999, DOI: 10.4401/ag-3711
Abstract: Vector measurements of the geomagnetic field have been made in the South Indian Ocean since 1988 when a Shipboard Three Component Magnetometer (STCM) was installed on board the icebreaker Shirase by the 30th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE-30). Twelve constants related to the ship's induced and permanent magnetic field were determined by the data obtained from the JARE-30 to the JARE-35. The constants related to the ship's magnetic susceptibility distribution are almost stable throughout the cruise and mostly depend on the ship's shape. On the other hand, the constants related to the ship's permanent magnetization are variable. However, absolute values of total intensity geomagnetic field calculated from vector geomagnetic field is possible to use, if the constraints from total intensity geomagnetic field measured by the proton magnetometer and/or satellite derived magnetic anomalies are applied.
On extendibility of a map induced by Bers isomorphism

Mathematics , 2014,
Abstract: Let $S$ be a closed Riemann surface of genus $g(\geqq 2)$ and set $\dot{S}=S \setminus \{\hat{z}_0 \}$. Then we have the composed map $\varphi\circ r$ of a map $r: T(S) \times U \rightarrow F(S)$ and the Bers isomorphism $\varphi: F(S) \rightarrow T(\dot{S})$, where $F(S)$ is the Bers fiber space of $S$, $T(X)$ is the Teichm\"uller space of $X$ and $U$ is the upper half-plane. The purpose of this paper is to show the map $\varphi\circ r:T(S)\times U \rightarrow T(\dot{S})$. has a continuous extension to some subset of the boundary $T(S) \times \partial U$.

Abstract: Surface tension of molten Ni and Ni-Co (5 and 10 mass fraction) alloys was measured at the temperature range of 1773~1873 K using an improved sessile drop method with an alumina substrate in an Ar 3%H2 atmosphere. The error of the data obtained was analyzed. The surface tension of molten Ni and Ni-Co (5 and 10 mass fraction) alloys decreases with increasing temperature. The influence of Co on the surface tension of Ni-Co alloys is little in the studied Co concentration range.

On the Witt vectors of perfect rings in positive characteristic
Kazuma Shimomoto
Mathematics , 2014,
Abstract: The purpose of this article is to prove some results on the Witt vectors of perfect $\mathbf{F}_p$-algebras. Let $A$ be a perfect $\mathbf{F}_p$-algebra for a prime integer $p$ and assume that $A$ has the property $\mathbf{P}$. Then does the ring of Witt vectors of $A$ also have $\mathbf{P}$? A main theorem gives an affirmative answer for $\mathbf{P}="\mbox{integrally closed}"$ under a very mild condition.
Galois cohomology of a $p$-adic field via $(Φ,Γ)$-modules in the imperfect residue field case
Kazuma Morita
Mathematics , 2005,
Abstract: For a $p$-adic local field $K$ with perfect residue field, L. Herr constructed a complex which computes the Galois cohomology of a $p$-torsion representation of the absolute Galois group of $K$ by using the theory of $(\Phi,\Gamma)$-modules. We shall generalize his work to the imperfect residue field (the residue field has a finite $p$-basis) case.
The Frobenius action on local cohomology modules in mixed characteristic
Kazuma Shimomoto
Mathematics , 2005,
Abstract: R. Heitmann's proof of the Direct Summand Conjecture has opened a new approach to the study of homological conjectures in mixed characteristic. Inspired by his work and by the methods of almost ring theory, we discuss a normalized length for certain torsion modules, which was introduced by G. Faltings. Using the normalized length and the Frobenius map, we prove some results of local cohomology for local rings in mixed characteristic, which has an immediate implication for the subject of splinters studied by A. Singh.
F-coherent rings with applications to tight closure theory
Kazuma Shimomoto
Mathematics , 2009,
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to introduce a new class of Noetherian rings of positive characteristic in terms of perfect closures and study their basic properties. If the perfect closure of a Noetherian ring is coherent, we call it an $F$-coherent ring. Some interesting applications are given in connection with tight closure theory. In particular, we discuss relationships between $F$-coherent rings and $F$-pure, $F$-regular, and $F$-injective rings. The final section discusses how the coherent property effects the behavior of tight closure for general perfect rings.
